As the Scottish Open Golf at Castle Stuart tees off in spectacular summer sunshine, Inverness – the City in the Highlands is getting ready to celebrate this important sporting event in style.

The Inverness Bunkers festival has been designed to bring the excitement of the open right into the city, ensuring that visitors and residents can really get into the swing of the tournament, with early evening entertainment on offer for all.

Free Family Entertainment in Inverness

The idea of the  Bunkers Festival, which will take place on Friday and Saturday nights in Inverness, is to create a real party feel for those returning to the city from the course at Castle Start on the shores of the Moray – and making a visit to Inverness and the Scottish Open an even more memorable experience.

Street entertainment will include  a giant golfer complete with living ball (pictured) from performers Fly Agaric as well as a pair of giant seagulls.

Scottish Open Golf Tournament Festival

For the first time this year there will be open access to the Inverness Town House building during festival hours (7 – 8.30pm Friday and Saturday) where visitors will also be able to enjoy performances from Fiddle Forte and the Fraser School of Highland Dancing.

And visitors to the city centre during the event to accompany the Scottish Open should not be surprised to see strange goings on almost anywhere, as a spokesman for the team behind the Inverness Bunkers Festival 2013 explained, saying: “Once again the performers in the Bunkers Festival are competing to discover who can find the most unusual places to perform…”
