Happyness Festival 2013 Brings Big Name Comedy Acts to Inverness

Bringing stand up comedy to all of Inverness

THE SECOND annual Happyness Comedy Festival kicks off in Inverness today, bringing big name comedy acts and emerging stars of the genre to the heart of the Highlands.

The five-day festival will offer Inverness comedy fans a packed programme of shows and showcases, with something on offer to suit all tastes.

Choose from a selection of stand up sets from familiar faces including:

  • Alan Davies
  • Dylan Moran
  • Fred MacAulay
  • Janey Godley
  • Jenny Eclair
  • Russell Kane

Or enjoy a non-stop evening of side-splitting entertainment at line-up shows featuring comedians including Hal Cruttenden, Andrew Maxwell and Davey Conner.

There will also be a showcase of Gaelic comedy talent as well as an inter-school competition to find Inverness’s best “Class clown”  – heats are being held in schools, with finalists taking to the stage at Eden Court on Sunday to funny-fight it out for the eventual comedy crown.

Family Fun in Inverness

Families can enjoy a range of kid-friendly comedy events at various venues across Inverness  – with FREE admission to a range of activities suitable for all ages including the Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppets and James Campbell’s Comedy for Kids.

Local football heroes Inverness Caledonian Thistle will take to the pitch in Bught Park for a match against a team of Happyness comedians, while the ever alternative Arthur Smith will offer places on his open-topped Alternative Tour of Inverness.

Produced in partnership with Event Scotland and the Highland Council’s Common Good Fund, the 2013 Happyness festival promises to offer the best opportunity all year to indulge your passion for comedy in Inverness.
