Inverness to Honour Burns With Displays, Drama and Dance


INVERNESS will be the venue for “Haggis, hilarity and heaps of Burns-inspired fun” this weekend as the Highland capital honours Scotland’s Bard in inimitable style.

Inverness residents and visitors are being invitied to join in an exciting celebration of the Life of Burns taking place across the city on Saturday January 25th from 6.45pm.

image001Organised by Eden Court CREATIVE, the event will kick off in Falcon Square with the Hilarious Haggis Highland Games, after which there will be a procession through the city centre and across the river Ness to Eden Court Theatre, where an eyecatching outdoor projector display is planned.

The Eden Court site will also play host to a number of bite-sized Burns-based drama pieces, before guests are invited to join a traditional Scottish ceilidh in the OneTouch Theatre – where a team will be on hand to help new initiates get into the swing with instruction on steps for dances such as Strip the Willow and The Dashing White Sergeant.

Eden Court CREATIVE Manager Kati Kozikowska said: “We’re calling on everyone in the Highlands young and old to help us celebrate the Life of Burns in style. ‘Our Burns: Life of a Poet’will be a fantastic way to celebrate the day of Scotland’s Bard, combining music, dance, drama and laughter  – and everyone is welcome to join in the fun – just remember to dress up warm as it will probably be wellie weather!”
