Live Music in Inverness: Bl’azz Offers Jazz in the Afternoon

Jazz by Uraszz via Deviantart under CC licenseINVERNESS Town House will play host to a series of lunchtime concerts throughout 2014, offering city dwellers and Highland visitors the opportunity to discover the joy of joy of Jazz and Blues.

The concerts, from organisation Bl’azz who hope to promote awareness of the genre across the area, are open to all with admission costing just £5.

Kicking off today (Thursday January 9th) at 1pm with a programme of nostalgic melodies and slightly swinging songs performed by Nigel Mackenzie at the Bosendorfer Grand Piano, the first concert is a “Gentle Jazz” selection featuring a selection of music by Fats Waller and W. C. Handy.

Inverness Music Organisation Aims to ‘Nuture Local Talent’

The lunchtime Town House concerts form part of a wider musical programme by the not for profit organisation which has a number of aims including:

  • enhancing public enjoyment
  • promoting understanding
  • increasing public awareness
  • attracting international talent
  • nurturing local talent

Other events will be held at live music venues across the city throughout the year.
