INVERNESS - A FINE PLACE TO LIVE

Inverness offers a terrific quality of life. As well as being a pleasant, safe environment in which to live, it also boasts a varied cultural life and first- rate educational opportunities. Unemployment, pollution and congestion are all low, and standards of public services, healthcare and education are good.  Inverness is also set in one the cleanest and most scenic environments to be found anywhere in Europe.

A CULTURAL CENTRE

Inverness has many venues which provide a stage for Highland and world culture. These include :

  • Eden Court Theatre (with restaurant and cinema)

  • Inverness Museum and Art Gallery

  • art.tm - a modern gallery which would not look out of place in any major city

  • Multiplex - a seven-screen state-of-the art facility which complements the city centre cinema

  • Inverness also hosts many festivals including the Highland Festival, which celebrates the area's rich culture and heritage, the Highland Food Festival, annual Highland Games, and one of Scotland's most successful New Year celebrations (Hogmanay).

A FINE EDUCATION

Inverness is justifiably proud of its educational record. Fine scholastic standards have seen a high proportion of school leavers going on to further education and the city's schools also tend to have strong links with their communities.

Inverness College offers a wide range of full time courses and degree programmes delivered in association with the University of Stirling and the new University of the Highlands and Islands project.
The University of the Highlands and Islands project utilises the latest telecommunications technology to create an integrated network of colleges throughout the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.

A Healthy Place to Live

With our fine environment and high quality of life, the Inverness Area is a healthy place to stay. Details of Health Services are available from the Highland Health Board.
