Bury yourself in books beside an open log fire in an Old Town bookshop, peruse one of the riverside galleries where you can see the work of local artists, relish the myriad of big name multiples in Eastgate or visit one of our retail parks located not far from the City Centre.

The City Centre

Inverness has a compact city centre, easy to walk around and accessible from both bus and rail stations. The Old Town offers a wide variety of shopping experiences including those in our Victorian Market. Centrally situated in the Old Town, this covered arcade provides a comfortable place to wander and discover some specialist shops and traditional merchants.

The High Street is always busy, interesting, welcoming and entertaining – pedestrianised to provide you with a safe shopping experience. As well as many well known retailers, regular farmers markets and street performers, including Highland pipers, offer interest and entertainment. The nearby Eastgate Centre is the city's flagship centre, home to many national chain stores. Recently enlarged to award-winning standards it complements other city shopping experiences and the adjacent Falcon Square is a great place to meet, and enjoy a variety of entertainment throughout the year.

Retail parks

Excellent retail parks lie close to the City Centre. Inverness Retail and Business Park to the east of the city offers many of the usual out-of-town superstores and shops, while there are smaller retail parks at Inshes and the Telford Retail Park  west of the river.

We also work in partnership with national disability organisation DisabledGo to produce detailed accessibility information to over 1,000 public venues including shops and many more.
