Local public transport
The longer distance rail services to Wick, Thurso, Kyle of Lochalsh, Aberdeen and to Edinburgh and Glasgow also offer a convenient way of reaching a number of neighbouring towns and villages including Aviemore, Nairn, Beauly, Muir of Ord, Dingwall, Alness, Invergordon and Tain.
By bus the choice of routes is even greater with most services run by Stagecoach Inverness while Scottish Citylink services to Ullapool, Caithness, Loch Ness & the South also serving locations such as Dingwall, Easter Ross, Aviemore and Drumnadrochit on route.
Frequent buses criss-cross the City itself including linking the city centre with all areas of the city including the suburbs of Westhill, Smithton, Culloden and Balloch and key locations such as Inverness airport, Raigmore Hospital and Inverness Leisure.
